Stevenston sees a significant crime increase with 286 reported incidents this January, a rise from 2024.

The report covered January. Police were told about 286 incidents, up from 276 in January 2024. Ninety-two were later called crimes, a rise of one-third from last year, when only 69 incidents were crimes.
Police “detected” just over half the crimes, meaning they cautioned, charged, or summoned someone. A third of the cases are still being looked at.
Last month, police heard about assaults and violent crimes three times, and people reported drug use and dealing twice.
Breach of the peace offences were reported often, with 11 such reports, of which police detected three. People reported public nuisance 14 times, and disturbances were reported 11 times in Stevenston.
The town council met in February at the Ardeer Neighbourhood Centre. The report is in the council meeting notes.
A police spokesperson spoke about patrols, noting that North Ayrshire police patrol the county and closely examine incidents in Stevenston. Two officers focus on the local community’s well-being.
