Cambridgeshire Council accepts offer for Stibbington Centre, former school and education site. Sold to create local jobs.

The Stibbington Centre used to be a school, later becoming an education trip spot. They even had cool themed days there for kids. They did Victorian Days and recreated World War Two evacuation drills, which sounds like it was pretty neat for students.
Visitor numbers dropped, and then it closed in 2023. Last June, they put it up for sale with an initial price of over £250,000. They got nine offers in total for the property, and most people bid on the whole thing. This news became public last month.
The council chose an offer of more than £500,000. The buyer claims they want to respect the site and plan to create local jobs, too. The main building has a big schoolroom, smaller rooms, and storage. There’s also a car park, plus a playing field outside.
A temporary building was added in 1988. It had classrooms and even bedrooms. Sadly, its planning permission already expired, so that building faces demolition now unless someone seeks new permission. It closed back in August 2023.
