North Wales launches sticker campaign to stop doorstep scams targeting older, vulnerable people. Police and Age Cymru are involved.

WASP partners saw rising doorstep scams, and these scams increase during the winter. Courier scams and rogue traders are included. Andy Dunbobbin funds this project. They will give out 2,500 stickers and leaflets.
Stickers say, “Stop – don’t hand over money!” People put these stickers inside their doors, reminding them to be careful of unexpected callers. The stickers list the police number, 101, so people can report suspected scams.
Andy Dunbobbin supports the sticker campaign to protect vulnerable people and highlights groups working together. Fraudsters target those who are vulnerable, so people should stop, think, and stay alert.
Victoria Lloyd of Age Cymru thinks this is vital because older people are often scam targets. Doorstep scams are a major concern, and she hopes this helps people say no. Scammers sound convincing and have authority.
Scammers change their strategies often and use bad weather to their advantage. We must help seniors resist fraud. Police will give stickers to people soon.
The stickers are clear and easy to read, considering the needs of people with dementia. Several groups support the campaign, including Trading Standards and Care & Repair Cymru.
Report scams to the police at 101 or call Action Fraud at 0300 123 2040. Their website is www.actionfraud.police.uk. You can email lpscommsafety@northwales.police.uk for a sticker.
