Locals described Nathaniel as a “very nice boy,” and they said he got involved with the “wrong crowd.” One person mentioned the area had a lot of violence. Another local stated he lived nearby and was a well-known guy.
A man claiming to be his uncle spoke about the incident. He mentioned the shooters dressed as delivery drivers, using a moped and posing as Deliveroo workers. No arrests have been made yet, police said.
Other relatives shared some details. He loved Manchester United and his Playstation 5. Nathaniel had one sibling, a sister.
A resident knowing his mom said he was bright. She mentioned his dad worked at a go-kart place. She said he helps the community a lot.
The police have a crime scene and cordons set up. Police cars and officers are staying nearby. Another local who knew him felt grief about the news; her own son died in a stabbing years ago.
A woman living close by said the area is unsafe at night. She said teenage boys cause trouble. They hang around at night, playing with fireworks. She thinks about camera locations when walking at night. There are no cameras by where the shooting occurred. She also said the attackers had “no shame.” A primary school is right next door.
An older neighbor said the area hasn’t felt like this since the 80s. Adrian Lindo said young people must learn from past events, and he sent his condolences to Nathaniel’s family. Florence Eshalomi, the Labour MP for Vauxhall and Camberwell Green, called the death a “life wasted.”
