Police use Section 60 after a group chased a man in Bechers, UK, on February 15th. Stop and search powers were enacted.

Police showed up and searched the area. They didn’t arrest anyone. Officers didn’t find weapons, and there were no other reports.
To prevent more problems, police have special powers. They can stop and search people for weapons.
These powers exist because of Section 60. It’s part of a law called the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act (1994). This lets police stop and search people or vehicles.
They only need to think they are carrying weapons. No other suspicion is needed.
The powers began Saturday, February 15th at 6:23 PM. They lasted until Sunday, February 16th at 6:00 PM. This was for Bechers and surrounding roads, including Hough Green Road, Prescott Road, and the B5178.
Police think the youths’ behavior was scary. Superintendent Sam Billington spoke about it. They are working to find those responsible.
Police also want to have a strong presence. They will target people causing trouble.
Police ask anyone with concerns to speak to an officer. If you know someone with a weapon, call 101. You can visit the police website too. Crimestoppers takes anonymous tips at 0800 555111.
