Stratford’s Draft Local Plan identifies potential sites for 11000 new homes. Public comment is open until March 7th.

You can comment on the local plan until March 7th. You need strong reasons to object to a site. Saying “no” is not good enough. Environmental reasons work best, like flood risks.
Big new areas are planned with 6,800 homes. This area stretches from Bearley to Wilmcote. There are 24 spots for growth in both districts. Thirteen are in Stratford.
“Growth locations” are big. They group sites near towns to boost growth. Figures for homes aren’t final yet. The plan period lasts until 2050.
New areas might take up some building spots. This means some sites might not be needed. One councillor says there is three times more land than needed.
Councillor Cowcher says some choices need proper support. This includes schools, healthcare and flood defenses. You can’t build without these things in place.
Some sites are better choices for building. Development must happen slowly until 2050. This avoids a building rush, then nothing later on.
If this happens, developers control the district. The government can ignore the concerns. The council will reject unsustainable plans. Landowners’ ideas may not all work.
A meeting happened in Wilmcote to talk about the new area. Bearley residents mostly opposed the plans. Land ownership is expected to be discussed.
