Police advise after attempted vehicle entries and theft in Saxmundham. Incidents include damage and stolen items.

Around 5 AM, three people tried getting into cars while wearing tracksuits with hoods. Police got many reports about it.
The group got into a Ford Focus and released the handbrake on Fairfield Road. The car rolled downhill and hit a wall, sustaining minor damage. Someone entered a VW Polo, also on Fairfield Road, and stole a tool bag plus spare change. It’s pretty bold.
A Royal Mail van was broken into on St John’s Road, but nothing got stolen this time. CCTV showed the three on Albion Street near the Railway Tavern around 4:55 AM, walking away from the train station.
The trio reappeared at 5 AM on Albion Street, then walked onto Fairfield Road from Rendham Road. Cameras last saw them at 5:10 AM on St Johns Road.
Police shared some tips to keep cars safe: Always lock your car, even briefly, and close all your windows completely. Secure items on the outside. Don’t leave valuables visible inside your car; take phones, wallets, and cash with you.
Hide electronic items and their mounts. Vans are targets for tools inside, so mark them clearly or use a lockable box. Park in well-lit, busy areas and avoid dark or quiet spots if possible.
Police want witnesses to contact them. If you drove in the area with dashcam footage, check it. If you have CCTV, please help out.
