Three teens are sentenced in Sunderland after a boy was seriously injured in a stabbing incident last year.

Emergency crews found a boy there. He had many back wounds, probably caused by a blade. He went to the hospital with serious injuries. The court heard he recovered fully later.
Police investigated the assault and quickly arrested some people. Two boys, ages 17 and 16, got charged. Also, a 15-year-old girl faced charges. They cannot be named due to their age. They were charged with attempted murder.
In court, they admitted to a lesser crime, causing grievous bodily harm. The court accepted this plea in October. The trio got sentenced on February 7th. One teen got 52 months in youth detention and another got two years and two months.
The last one received a rehab order for 12 months. All three have an eight-year restraining order and cannot contact the victim.
A police chief inspector spoke after the sentencing, saying violence is unwelcome and they will work to stop it. He called it a thoughtless act that could have been much worse. He said carrying a knife is never good, as these crimes devastate communities often.
He wants people to talk about knife dangers. Share info if you know someone has a knife. Knife users ruin many lives, causing suffering for victims, families, and friends.
