The Swan sits in Wedmore, a nice village that has won many awards and welcomes dogs. The Somerset Levels surround the pub, and the Mendip Hills form a scenic background.

This village pub has seven bedrooms with bathrooms. It started as a Beer House during the 1700s and grew bigger around the 1850s. It then became ‘The Swan Hotel’ with rooms, stables, and a coaching yard.

They want to turn the function room into more bedrooms and plan to add four guest suites, bringing the total to eleven rooms. The plan includes adding four roof lights, and other work will also happen.

The pub is located in a sensitive area, inside a designated Conservation Area. This means tighter rules apply to its plans. A decision about the pub’s future is due by March 8th.

The Swan won awards in 2023 and was among the best pubs in South West England. The National Pub & Bar Awards recognized it for design, training, team welfare, and sustainability. The food, drinks, and marketing also counted.

The Swan is on Cheddar Road in Wedmore. Its postcode is BS28 4EQ.
