That village pub, The Swan Inn, may become a house. It’s been closed for over two years. Mr. J Collins wants to make the change and works for AP17 Investment firm.

The pub is in Coney Weston and stopped serving customers in 2022. The pub’s marketing campaign was very thorough, yet nobody wanted to reopen it. The pub’s planning statement shared some details.

The building dates back to around 1900. It’s on Thetford Road and has been empty, with the statement saying its condition is getting worse. The Swan Inn first went up for sale in March 2022 and poor business made it close.

It remained for sale as new owners bought it last September. The owners kept trying to sell it or lease it out. The village nominated it as a community asset.

The parish council wanted to buy or lease. They then confirmed they wouldn’t make offers in January. Someone wanted to lease in November, but withdrew.

The pub remains for sale and for lease currently. Owners will stop the plan if it sells. The only option is to make it a house, as no one wants it as a pub or for other uses. This change won’t hurt the building itself and improves the area’s look.
