£128,000 will improve safety at 19 schools with road safety changes, new zones & reduced speed limits.

Work started on February 10th, and they plan to finish by February 23rd; this is a quick project.
The funding comes from a special program called the School Safe Environment scheme. The program started back in 2020, and it has helped 72 schools already.
This scheme improves road safety at schools by using different methods, which can involve changing behaviors or the layout of roads.
They add markings like “keep clear” zones, and yellow lines prevent parking near schools. Flashing amber school signs warn drivers, and they also create five-minute walk zones.
This year, they add even more improvements, like new waiting rules. Speed limits will get reduced near schools, and they will add more bike-riding areas too.
You can see the full list of schools online, as the council website has the details. They show which schools benefit this year.
The council wants kids to be safe, and a spokesperson talked about the project. They want children to walk safely to school, which is why they invest in these changes.
