Recent Swindon Crown Court cases include fraud, shoplifting, drug offenses and burglary. Defendants face sentencing.

These crimes occurred from April 2023 to June 2024. Russell acted like a landlord for Swindon properties, but he didn’t actually own them. He asked people for rental deposits.
Once, he asked for a £600 deposit. Then, he wanted £1,200 for rent between May and June 2023. Another time, he requested two payments of £1,685 for a deposit plus first month’s rent. He remains in custody, and his sentencing is on February 20.
Wayne Fenn, from Oxford, admitted to shoplifting that occurred on July 17. On June 7, Fenn and someone else went to Sainsbury’s where they stole £1,560 of food and drinks. That same day, they hit a Waitrose store, too, getting away with £2,182 worth of items.
Fenn got a suspended 18-month sentence. He must pay £150 toward prosecution costs, do 10 rehab days, and complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
Connor Wilson, from Stratton St Margaret, admitted to crimes and pleaded guilty on February 7. The charges included cannabis possession and dealing cocaine, which is illegal. The court released him on bail and he awaits sentencing on March 6 at the Crown Court.
Nicholas Castle, from Kinson, was sentenced in Crown Court this week. He had four burglary theft charges against him. He also failed to surrender to the court, faced three counts of meter theft, and faced vandalism charges.
Castle stole from a McColls in Corsham in 2022. He took alcohol and scratch cards; the total value came to £2,639. He then missed a court date last April.
Castle also stole items from a cafe and cash from a meter, totaling over £600. Eventually, Castle severely damaged vending machines; these damages cost about £18,000. He admitted these charges on September 26, 2024. The court sentenced him to nine months overall in jail.
