Recent Swindon court cases include drug offenses, breaching orders, and indecent image possession. Sentences varied.

Callum MacHardie appeared in court. He is 34 and from Arley Close. He broke a sexual harm prevention order by not complying with sex offender rules. This happened on February 14.
MacHardie cannot own devices with internet requiring approval or monitoring software. On January 14, police found him with a Nokia phone with internet, and he lacked permission. He got a suspended 12-month sentence suspended for 24 months and must do rehab for 26 days. He also needs to pay £187.
Alfie Thomas was sentenced this week. He is from Merrington Gardens and he supplied crack cocaine and heroin in Swindon between 2022 and 2023. He was only seventeen then, and he initially denied selling drugs.
Police found evidence on his phone, that he topped it up and called family. He used taxis to his address too. The prosecutor called his denial “utterly fruitless,” and he pleaded guilty to both charges in June 2023.
The judge noted Thomas dealt with homelessness and others took advantage of him for dealing drugs and selling drugs causes a lot of disruption. He got a two-year suspended prison sentence suspended for two years. He must do rehab for twelve days and also needs 200 unpaid work hours. Thomas needs to pay a £187 surcharge, with the judge saying, “The ball is in your court.”
Jeff Hemmings was sentenced in Swindon. He lives on Cranmore Avenue, Park South. He had many indecent images of children, including 304 category A images, 31 category B, and 122 category C images. This happened between August 2022 and February 2023.
He possessed five extreme pornographic images on his Apple and Google phones. Police seized both devices and he pleaded guilty in December 2024. He got a five-year sexual harm prevention order. On February 14, he got a two-year community order, must work with probation, and complete 120 hours of unpaid work. Hemmings pays a £114 surcharge, and it is important he registers as a sex offender.
