Darren Roberts, charged with causing death by dangerous driving, was accosted outside Swindon Crown Court.
The incident allegedly happened on January 31, 2022. Roberts was riding a motorbike around Drakes Way in the evening. He collided with Neil Sharp, a man in his 30s, around 8:35 PM.
Roberts reportedly had cocaine on him that day. He was taken to a hospital afterward, with doctors suspecting a broken arm. He appeared in Swindon Crown Court on Wednesday, February 19.
The court appearance was a mention hearing, and his trial is scheduled to start on Monday, March 17. A long queue formed at the court at about 10 AM as Roberts waited with his mother for security checks.
As a man leaving the court spotted Roberts, he began shouting and swearing, mentioning both Roberts and the victim. The man’s family tried to restrain him, pushing him outside while others watched. Security stepped in to help.
The man kept yelling at Roberts before leaving the court grounds completely. Roberts’ mother then called 999 for help. Two police officers arrived around 10:20 AM, but both people involved had already left.
