New Swindon “Library of Things” lets residents borrow tools, appliances, and more, boosting home improvement and sustainability.

Janine Howarth said money shouldn’t stop home work. You book items and pick them up. This saves money on buying new tools, as they offer drills, lawn mowers, and even cake tins.
Howarth wants a better, greener Swindon. This gives people new chances and helps homes become more sustainable too. Borrowing reduces needless waste, according to Howarth.
She suggests tenants take DIY courses. It excites her to see improvements made to homes. Equipment pick-up is at Enterprise Works, near Wickes, off the B4143 road.
Enterprise Works helps adults having learning issues. Also, they offer timber and fencing. The Council also runs a Tenant Academy program, which includes DIY courses for housing tenants.
Tenants can learn to do small repairs themselves. Howarth says they run DIY courses. The Library of Things is open to Swindon people, so you can learn basic plumbing and woodwork.
Hanging pictures is taught in the courses, and stripping wallpaper is included too. The DIY course is free if you qualify. Other cities tried the Library of Things first, but it’s open in Swindon now.
