Swindon sees plans for HMO conversions, pub updates, and home extensions alongside a rejected dormer proposal.

The building is at 38a and 38b Deacon Street. They will add another floor to the flats. A gable roof replaces the flat roof. The second floor gets two ensuite bedrooms. The first floor gets three bedrooms, while the ground floor gets two. It also includes the kitchen and common space. All bedrooms will include ensuite bathrooms.
Brett Property wants to convert a building at 1 Groundwell Road, near Regent Circus. It was a funeral director’s business with a two-bed flat above it. Brett wants six people to live there.
Thomas Gascoigne can convert a house at 2a Ferndale Road. It will house eleven people and is intended for young professionals. The house has multiple bedrooms and baths, spanning across two floors in total. The shared living space gets permission.
There are eleven planned bedrooms; six are on the ground floor, and five are on the first floor. Three kitchens are in their plans, with one kitchen being upstairs. Multiple bathrooms and showers are also planned.
Gascoigne noticed a need. Young workers need affordable housing. They cannot yet rent or own alone.
Offices might get built near an empty pub in Wroughton. Storage units would also be added, sitting in the pub’s car park. Woodview Estates manages this project. They want to build five terraced houses, meaning The Check Inn itself will change. They can also add units to the car park.
Five storage units are planned. They will sit on the northern border consisting of two stories of brick and metal. Each unit has a steel roller door, a regular door facing the car park, plus a back door and windows.
People want to extend houses at various addresses. These include Castlefield Close, Atbara Close, Turnpike Road, and Westlecot Road. Mayfield Close, Queensborough, and The Wyncies are also listed.
Some extension applications have been approved. These are at Jupiter Close, Hythe Roade, Kenilworth Lawns and Whitworth Road. Other approvals are Liddington Street, Goddard Avenue, Ashford Road, Bath Road, and Whittington Road. Also approved is Kingshill Road and Kent Road.
Agron Neziraj’s plan was rejected. It was for Bridge End Road because he wanted a rear extension. A front dormer window was also proposed.
Planners said the dormer looked bad, citing a low-quality design. It didn’t match the area properly and disrupted the street’s look. It would harm the neighborhood’s feel.
