Borrow tools and equipment via Swindon’s new “Library of Things,” saving money and space for residents.

They are working with Enterprise Works. That group helps adults with learning difficulties. Tenant Academy also helps run this service. Council tenants and other residents can use it. It’s for home improvements and regular upkeep. The goal is to help you save money. You don’t have to buy pricey equipment.
Other local groups tried this idea before. Swindon’s library started with a Tenant Academy program. They also have DIY courses for tenants. You can learn to do minor repairs yourself. These courses teach basic skills. Think plumbing, hanging pictures, or woodwork. Wallpapering is another skill they teach!
The “Library of Things” offers many items. Drills, lawn mowers, and spades are there. Even slow cookers and cake tins are! Items are given out first-come, first-served.
Borrowing helps save money and space. It reduces clutter in your home too. People sign up and reserve items online. Then, pick them up at Enterprise Works. Return them there later when you finish. At first, they will have a limited number of things.
The “Library of Things” saves people money. DIY courses teach new skills to residents. It helps create a more sustainable town. It connects people and uses resources well.
