Amegreen seeks to extend Willow Brae children’s home in Pamber Heath, sparking parking concerns among neighbors.

The bungalow has three bedrooms already. It will help kids with disabilities. It will suit those learning or physically disabled. They’ll tear down the garage. This creates space for the addition. The company wants to improve life quality. This matters for the children living there.
The home houses disabled children. These kids need wheelchairs daily. The company withdrew an earlier plan. That plan featured a two-bedroom addition. They reduced the size of the extension since then.
Neighbors worry about parking issues. Some think there is not enough parking. Alec Hafele lives in Pamber Heath. He supports the children’s home idea. He worries about parking on the property. He thinks Willowbrae lacks enough parking.
He says this is for current kids and staff. Adding another bedroom worsens it. Rebecca Thomas lives nearby. She shares parking concerns too. She thinks more bedrooms means more staff. This could cause greater parking problems.
Steve Ward also lives close and says staff park on the road. They block driveway access on Springfield Road, he notes. He thinks expansion would cause parking issues. However, the county council has no parking concerns.
They support the proposed building plans. They think the parking is sufficient. It should meet the expected need. The applicant says the drive gives parking. This caters to staff and residents. Reducing the extension size helped too. It lowered the parking demand. It has addressed previous highway concerns.
The meeting for approval is February 12.
