TEDx is coming back to Aberystwyth soon. It’s their seventh event this month, run by volunteers. The event is on Saturday, February 22, and the theme this year is “My seaside town.”

Fifteen speakers, all with local ties, will be at the event. They include seaweed experts, glass artists, sustainability consultants, and death doulas. Topics include anthropology, economics, health, and grief.

The event happens at Arad Goch Theatre, marking the first one since 2022. Organizers chose the seaside town theme because they feel local connections are important. These connections help us find solutions to big issues existing in the world now.

Speakers will discuss topics like the environment, science, food, and women in business. They hope TEDxAberystwyth gives people inspiration, and the event may provide fresh ideas and hope.

Zoe Whitman, an entrepreneur, will talk about hourly rates and how it hurts female potential. Bruce Wight, who teaches economics at Aberystwyth University, speaks on the economics of a good night out.

Glenn Cosby runs a coaching business and is rethinking education and student wellbeing. His talk is titled, “Stop nagging!” TED Talks are very famous seminars, and their popularity has especially grown in the last ten years.

TEDx is a program of local, self-organized, and non-profit events. The event feels like a TED Talk, featuring lectures from inspiring speakers.

It takes place at Arad Goch on Bath Street in Aberystwyth. The event runs from 10 AM to 3:30 PM, and tickets cost £11.55. Buy tickets with the Eventbrite link.
