A 15-year-old boy died after a car crash in Wellingborough. The car went into the River Nene, and the driver was arrested.

Joe Maddy was from Irchester. He was in a silver Toyota Hilux. The crash happened on Friday, February 7. The car left the road and went into the River Nene in Wellingborough, specifically at the Embankment.
Emergency services showed up fast, and firefighters worked hard to rescue them. Sadly, Joe died later in a hospital.
The driver was 18 years old and also from Irchester. He had minor injuries. Police arrested him on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. He is out on bail now as police continue to investigate the crash.
Joe’s family is grateful for the support, and people offered kind words over the weekend. The family sent thanks to everyone.
Specially trained officers are helping the family. These officers work with serious crashes, and they asked for privacy during this hard time.
