Jaysley Beck, 19, felt unsafe due to boss Ryan Mason’s actions before her death at Larkhill Camp in 2021, inquest reveals.

An Army report came out in October 2023. It described unwelcome behavior toward her. This behavior likely caused her death, they said.
Leighann McCready is Gunner Beck’s mother. She said her daughter felt unsafe with Ryan Mason. She described his actions as intensifying.
The inquest showed WhatsApp messages. These messages were between Gunner Beck and Mr. Mason. They spanned from October to December 2021. Ms. McCready stated her daughter supported Mr. Mason. She said he experienced mental health issues at the time.
In one message, Mr. Mason told Gunner Beck he loved her as a friend. He even nicknamed her “the magician” in his phone. Later, he said she was amazing and appreciated. He also said he loved everything about her. He said she was stuck with him forever.
Gunner Beck wrote to Mr. Mason in November. She said his feelings were becoming too much. She had just ended a relationship. She did not want another one right now. She told him she did not want to hear his feelings for her. She was very honest with him about that.
Ms. McCready said her daughter received 3,600 texts in November. She felt Mason overstepped her friendly nature. She even thought he was becoming a creep.
Gunner Beck also said she feared Mr. Mason watched her. She felt uncomfortable when he knew her location. She described the situation as weird. In December, she told Mr. Mason he was overwhelming her. She said he sent multiple texts and called quickly. She asked if he understood her feelings.
The hearing about Gunner Beck’s death is still ongoing.
