A brave teen was injured in Stanley Gardens protecting his Dachshund puppy from a Rottweiler-Bulldog mix.

The teen’s mom calls him a hero. He protected his puppy, Dougie. His younger brother was there, too. The dog escaped its garden and then attacked them.
The dog dragged the teen down, but he quickly stood up. He held Dougie high in the air. He shielded his brother, who is thirteen, from the dog.
Doctors checked the teen’s injuries, cleaning and bandaging his wounds. His mom spoke to KentOnline, saying Dougie is lucky to be alive. She added a child wouldn’t have survived, noting kids played football there earlier. Her son has bites all over his body, and it was scary for her sons and the pup.
Neighbors helped them, calling the police and an ambulance. She is thankful for their help, emphasizing her son protected Dougie and his brother.
The boy and Dougie are recovering at home, both shaken by the attack. The teen needed treatment for many bites on his legs and chest. Dougie also needed treatment, as he had gotten bitten many times.
People thought the dog was an XL bully, but police think it is a Rottweiler mix. The dog was at home when police arrived. They did not take the dog because it is not a banned breed. They advised the owner to use a muzzle, and the police are investigating.
