Worcestershire council to rebuild wall destroyed in Tenbury Wells floods. Project aims to slow flow from Kyre Brook.

Councillor Emma Stokes addressed the frustration about the delay, stating that proper procedures are very important. The council is working closely with the Environment Agency to ensure the project’s success.
Wall construction is scheduled to start on Monday, February 24, and should take about two weeks to complete. Identifying the wall’s owner initially caused a delay. However, the council will now replace the wall itself.
The new structure won’t prevent all flooding. However, it will slow down the Kyre Brook’s water flow, mimicking the old wall’s function before the collapse. Councillor David Chambers has expressed his support for rebuilding the wall.
Chambers believes this rebuilding helps residents and business owners. He notes that the wall doesn’t constitute a complete flood defense, but the brook will reach Market Street at a slower rate. He continues to advocate for the Environment Agency’s larger plan, backing any effort to reduce flood impact.
