TfL addresses complaints about the unreliable 154 bus route in South London, promising improvements and a permanent solution.
TfL will improve the 154 bus route. Issues included stranded passengers, and buses often stopped their routes early.
The bus connects Morden and West Croydon. It often skipped stops and ended journeys too soon. Bobby Dean MP found many trips were cut short in 2024. Passengers couldn’t get to work or appointments.
Residents said buses skipped the area at peak times. They walked home in bad weather and buses frequently ended routes unexpectedly.
Darren Fishwick uses the bus. He said he was stranded for hours, and sometimes walks instead. This is tiring and painful for him.
Mr. Dean started a petition for urgent action because of these problems. Over 600 people signed it, highlighting the issues.
Now, TfL will improve the 154 route’s reliability. They promise a permanent solution soon.
They increased services to West Croydon and split the route in Wallington. One bus runs from Croydon to Wallington, and another goes from Wallington to Morden. They added more drivers and buses.
Go-Ahead London suggested long-term improvements. TfL will reveal its permanent plan in March 2025 after reviewing the proposal.
Mr. Dean said this is a win for residents. He said no one should struggle to get home and is happy TfL listened.
Mr. Dean wants continued pressure for lasting change. He wants a long-term solution and will keep pressure on TfL.
