The spot called The Horns turned into Avabar in June 2024. It had a new look and Brazilian food. New drinks also arrived. Last week, a sign appeared asking people to take over the place.

Stonegate Pub Company owns the building, and they confirmed that it has now closed. They plan to do some work and want to rent the space again soon. The closure should not last long.

The Horns shut in October 2022. It opened again a month later, with lots of public support. It closed again in October 2023, and reopened under new people in December, but closed again in April 2024. This is the fourth closure in three years, and people in town are worried.

Previous owners said it was hard to keep open. They struggled to get enough customers. Now, a search for someone new has begun.

A listing for a new operator exists online. The site still calls it ‘The Horns’. ‘Avabar’ has potential as a music spot and could offer unique food. It is unclear what the future holds. Will it be a pub again, or stay a restaurant-bar?

Stonegate wants a “unique food offering,” which should go with the drinks they sell. They expect about £544,595 turnover per year, with rent at £865 each week. Avabar was asked for a comment.
