The Range’s new Oxford store opens with a Homebase garden center. First customers win prizes and receive goodie bags.

Oxford’s Lord Mayor, Mike Rowley, cut the ribbon. A Garden Centre by Homebase is now inside. It has plants, tools, compost, and pots. People looked around and won prizes. The top prize was a BBQ worth about £100. It also included gas from Calor Gas.
Second place won a drill worth about £120. The first fifty people got goodie bags. Calor Gas and Westlands were there too. They gave advice and showed products.
The Range opened stores elsewhere today. These were in Eastbourne and Morecambe. More stores will open in 2025. Alex Simpkin is the CEO of CDS Superstores. His stores include The Range, Wilko, and Homebase. He is happy about the Oxford store opening.

The Range in Bicester replaced a Homebase. It opened on February 21 at Launton Road. The Abingdon Homebase closed this month. It was at Fairacres Retail Park. It opened in 2021 and people will miss it.
They announced the closure before Christmas. They discounted items before closing. No replacement store is planned yet.
