Matt Baker, founder of The Stove, will leave his CEO role this summer. This marks a new phase for The Stove. Matt co-founded The Stove Network in 2011. It grew out of his work as a public artist, and he is stepping back after 14 years.

His departure was planned carefully for over a year to ensure a smooth transition. Matt will stay with the organization part-time in a new role as “prospector.” He will work on regional and national strategy. Matt will also develop policy and seek new opportunities for The Stove and the region.

Matt said he wanted The Stove to last and build a strong arts group rooted in his home area. Stepping back is his final step, letting it stand independently. Matt thanked everyone who helped The Stove, including funders, partners, artists, and communities.

The Stove says this news starts a new chapter, and they approach it with optimism and ambition. Their core mission remains the same as they keep evolving with the creative community. The Stove also thanked Matt for great leadership, valuing his dedication to the organization and his support for Dumfries and Galloway.
