Thetford’s leisure centre is getting a new £740000 football pitch, funded by Breckland Council and the Football Foundation.

Breckland Council got funding for this. The Football Foundation gave £525,000. The Premier League, FA, and the government also helped. The total cost is £740,000. The council, Parkwood, and Lex Leisure are helping and will cover the remaining costs.
A council member, Tristan Ashby, is excited. He said the investment boosts sports in Thetford, adding that he can’t wait for the new pitch. The pitch is getting new fencing and better lights.
They are adding storage and hardstanding areas too. This pitch meets FIFA standards. Kids can play lots of games there! It works for eleven, nine, seven, and five-a-side. Cool, right?
Terry Jermy and Mike Brindle commented as well. They said it is great news for Thetford and claimed the project boosts local football. They know this might affect other sports; for example, hockey groups may need to adjust their plans, and they will help support local hockey.
