Three individuals arrested in South Shields and Hebburn over suspected £69,000 Universal Credit fraud.

The police suspected fraud. Apparently, Universal Credit claims looked dodgy. The DWP and NEROCU investigated. They found over £69,000 in suspicious claims. Identity fraud seemed likely to them.
They arrested two men and one woman. The men are 42 and 45 years old. The woman is 38. Police suspect fraud and wrongful credit retention. The suspects were released, however the investigation continues.
Police searched their homes. They also seized various items, officers stated.
Detective Sergeant James Woodcock commented. He works with the NEROCU economic crime squad. He thanked everyone involved and warned economic criminals. Police will find them, he stated firmly.
Woodcock mentioned Operation Sentinel. This tackles organized crime in the region. They want to dismantle these criminal networks and address all forms of serous crime.
