Three Elephants on Chepstow Road received the highest possible food hygiene score after a recent inspection.

The Food Standards Agency does these inspections. They look at a few important things. They check how well food is handled safely, and the cleanliness of the building. They also check the food safety management.
Three Elephants did great in all areas. They rated “good” across the board. This means food handling is very hygienic. Facilities and building conditions are clean and they also manage food safety well
.
The FSA looks at food prep closely. This includes cooking and reheating. Safe cooling and storage are important. They check all these steps. They also look at the building layout including ventilation, hand washing and pest control. The FSA checks everything carefully.
Good management is also key. They check the checks, ensuring the food is safe to eat. Staff knowledge is a factor because they must know their food safety stuff.
Because they got a top score, there’s a rule: They must show their rating clearly. This is because of the Food Hygiene Rating Act 2013.
This law started in Wales on March 4, 2013. It covers all places that sell food, including pubs and cafes. Even schools, hotels, hospitals, and takeaways are included too. Businesses must tell you their rating if you ask, even over the phone; they have to give you the info or violate the law.
The FSA site has all the ratings. Ratings go from zero to five. Zero means change is needed fast, and five means things look fantastic!
If a business disagrees, they can appeal. They can challenge their rating and ask the FSA to review it.
