Rue Grewal, Three Rivers councillor, resigned from the Conservative group and will now serve as an independent councillor.

Grewal sent a statement to other councillors indicating she felt she had to leave the group. This news was reported.
Grewal will be independent until 2026, when her term ends. She said she’s dedicated to serving her community, but declined to comment further right now.
Ian Morris, another area councillor, also left the party and is now an independent. Stephen Giles-Medhurst, who leads the council, called Grewal a hard worker.
Giles-Medhurst noted her support for protecting green spaces, understanding this is important to her residents. He affirmed he will work with her regardless of party affiliation.
Steve Cox, who leads the Labour group, regrets Grewal’s resignation but understands why she did it. He mentioned issues with the Conservative leadership.
Oliver Cooper leads the Conservative group. People contacted him for a statement, but he did not respond before publication.
