Green Shoots started a toad patrol to assist toads crossing roads near Quinta entrance and Bronygarth Road.

The group secured a grant. This grant enabled them to install roadside warning signs, which were installed on Sunday, February 23.
Paul Herbert, with Green Shoots, and his daughter, Cora, observed toads crossing near Quinta entrance and Bronygarth Road in March 2024. Many toads were being accidentally crushed by cars.
To address this, they formed a group to help the toads and raise awareness. The goal is to help more toads reach breeding ponds.
Seeking guidance, Paul contacted the Ellesmere Toad Patrol for advice and data to establish a local patrol. Subsequently, the Weston Rhyn Toad Patrol was officially formed. Froglife registered it as ‘Quinta Entrance- Bronygarth Road.’
The community group received a Freedom Fibre grant. With this, they purchased road signs for drivers. The signs serve as a warning to slow down where toads cross the road.
Paul stated that as toads wake up and begin crossing roads, the signs will aid them. The signs also ensure safety for volunteer helpers.
