Queen’s Arms in Brixham raises £51,345 for local charities through beer festivals and events, despite challenging weather.

Their tenth beer festival recently happened, and they gave out the prizes at a special night. The event even survived bad winter weather because people wanted to support a good cause.
Storm Darragh arrived during the latest festival, but locals still came out in the wind and rain. They raised £8,083 for Pete’s Dragons, a charity that helps people after a suicide. The festival honored a regular customer who passed away.
The pub exceeded their £50,000 fundraising goal, reaching £51,345.67 from ten beer festivals. This is amazing, especially considering that it’s a small pub.
Chris Simmonds, the owner of the Queen’s Arms, thanked locals, friends, and his family. Their help made this achievement possible, and he supports Pete’s Dragons. He gave a check to Alison Jordan, the charity’s founder.
Local customers taste and judge the beers in different groups before the festival. Winning breweries received awards at the event.
Seven local breweries attended the event, including Hunts Ciders and Otter Brewery. St Austell Brewery and Teignmouth Brewery also attended. Additionally, Teignworthy, Branscombe Vale, and Dartmoor Brewery were present, with Otter Brewery winning the best beer award.
The Queen’s Arms is a popular pub that has won awards from CAMRA. Chris Simmonds wants to bring back old traditions. Other charities, including Great Ormond Street, Tommy’s, The Golden Vanity Trust, and The Royal British Legion, benefitted from their efforts.
They’re already planning beer festival number eleven. This year they will support veterans in Torbay through a new charity called Torbay Armed Forces Support.
