The Royal Naval Association’s Torbay branch turns 80. They started as part of the Naval Old Boys Association on September 26, 1945 and later became the Torbay Branch of the Royal Naval Association. Their first flag is now in St Paul’s Church in Paignton.

The branch will plant an oak tree to celebrate their 80th anniversary. This will be on the Cockington Estate near Torquay, and they are working with a trust to find the best spot.

The group participates in many events, attending remembrance parades, D-Day events, and Armed Forces Day. The association is also a charity and raises money for good causes, giving to military charities and cadet groups.

They are looking for new members, and people currently in the Royal Navy are welcome to join. Former navy people, along with those from Commonwealth Navies, the WRNS, and QARNNS, can also join the meetings.

The meetings happen monthly on the last Wednesday of each month. They start at 7:30 PM and are held at the Palace Avenue Conservative Club in Paignton.
