Kris Richards starts a Torquay dog social group for small dog owners, meeting weekly at the Babbacombe Inn since June 2023.

They meet every Wednesday from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The location is the Babbacombe Inn. The group started in June 2023.
Jennie Langridge and Marian Parker helped start the group. Torquay u3a offered support too.
Kris’s dog, Flag, lacked socialization. Kris had cancer and avoided crowds, and lockdown made things worse for Flag.
After restrictions eased, Flag felt overwhelmed. Kris sought help to socialize him. She wanted to meet other dog lovers, which is why she started the group.
Kris enjoys the group a lot. She loves how much it has grown. The group has friendly people and dogs, and Flag is doing much better now. He’s a loved community member.
There’s no pressure to attend every week; come when you can. It is a friendly and supportive group, and they want meetings to be fun and relaxed. People can share as much or as little as they want.
You do not need a dog to join the fun. It’s good for nervous dogs to socialize, and owners can chat and drink coffee together. Some people take a short walk afterward.
