Torfaen Council made key planning decisions, approving a holiday let but rejecting pool building conversions.

They approved a change at 28 Sycamore Road. This was about a window, door, screen and glass issue. This change lets more light in and improves how the glazed units look.
Someone wanted work done on a tree at Ty Fry Farm. Work included cutting back the crown, removing deadwood and ivy, with herbicide treatment included. The council said no because the tree has protection and its good condition makes it valuable. Moss isn’t a good enough reason to harm it.
The council said yes to some materials at Llanderfel Farm. It concerned application 24/P/0298/LBC, condition 4. The application covers farmhouse repairs and outbuilding refurbishment. The paperwork met the guidelines.
Converting a pool building was rejected at Ty-trappa Farm. It was to become a bungalow, but they denied permission because converting it would intrude on the countryside. Roads to the site are too small and site access has bad visibility, which could harm drivers and walkers.
A rear extension got approved at 21 King Street. It includes a new first-floor window and a small patio extension. The work needs to start in five years and they must follow the approved plans. Bird box details require approval, and side windows need obscured glazing beforehand.
WeBuyAnyCar can put up pod structures, and Autoglass Repair can also erect two pod structures at Morrisons, St David’s Road. They can also install vinyl signs for the pods. Plans must be followed, and work must start within five years. Adverts should be clean.
A first-floor extension passed at 2 Stiels. This will make the property two stories. Work must begin within five years, approved plans must be followed, and ecological steps are needed before use.
A garage conversion got the thumbs up at Brookside. It’s for holiday accommodation only. Work needs to start within five years, and plans that were sanctioned must be followed. It can only be holiday use or related to Brookside and cannot be a primary residence. No stay can exceed 31 days a year. Also, improve biodiversity on site first.
