Torquay represents the South West in the Britain in Bloom finals, showcasing its gardens and community efforts for national glory.

Britain in Bloom wants to inspire communities and improve their local environment. Gardening, environment projects, and community work matter for the competition that sees only the best from 16 regions make the finals.
Torbay won many awards in October 2024 including gold awards for Babbacombe and St Marychurch. Paignton and Torquay also received gold awards.
Torquay’s Italian garden won a special award, the ABBISS Cup for best garden display, specifically for municipal gardens. These gardens feature varied plants and landscaping.
They also won the Plantscape Coastal Trophy, recognizing the best seaside entry. Now, Torquay is heading to the 2025 national finals.
Judges will assess Torquay’s seafront and Cockington Country Park. Hotel gardens and parts of the South West Path are also included in the judging.
Judges will check tree health, grass quality, and street and beach cleanliness. The maintenance of benches and wildlife support is equally important.
Torquay competes against Shrewsbury, Tower Hamlets, Derry, Chorley, Royal Tunbridge Wells, and Harrogate. This year’s theme is “Your Story,” emphasizing tourism, sustainability, and skills.
SWISCo provides local services for Torbay including waste, recycling, and park maintenance. They believe the theme matches Torquay’s strengths.
Locals value Torquay’s green spaces, which also attract tourists. This is thought to give the town an advantage in the competition.
SWISCo recognizes their team’s hard work and the dedication of volunteers. Everyone must help Torquay look its best this summer.
