Torridge receives £20 million to boost jobs, housing, healthcare, and green innovation projects across the region.

The money will support green innovation projects, enabling the construction of affordable homes and improvements to healthcare and infrastructure. This funding is part of a national plan, ensuring communities can access growth opportunities.
Funding will expand Bideford Business Park and improve Hatchmoor Industrial Estate, boosting the local economy and opening more opportunities for residents. Bideford will also gain affordable housing plans, while existing social homes become more energy efficient, cutting bills for vulnerable residents.
An old hospital ward will be transformed into a Community Health and Wellbeing Hub, offering healthcare, fitness classes, and group appointments. This hub provides community support and needed services. Agri-innovation in Torridge is also set to rise.
The Agri-Business Centre in Holsworthy will expand, and Appledore will gain a Clean Maritime center. These projects aim to create jobs, attract investment, and improve connectivity for local workers. This will help Torridge become a clean maritime hub.
The Bideford Nutrient Recovery Pilot will launch, reducing pollutants in local rivers through real-time monitoring to identify pollution sources, ensuring high water quality for everyone. Torridge’s heritage is set to get preservation support.
Flexible community spaces will be created, with Bideford Pannier Market hosting community events and Holsworthy Manor office space receiving updates. Torrington’s Grade II-listed Globe Hotel will be restored, becoming a training hotel with 11 bedrooms and a restaurant, boosting the economy.
