A tourist threw a cat off a high platform at Swallow’s Nest castle. The castle is in Crimea, which Russia occupies. It’s about 130 feet to the ground.

The cat, named Musya, miraculously survived the fall. People thought she died after the cruel act. Volunteers searched for Musya for three days and found her alive among the rocks.

A Russian tourist named Dmitry was detained. He came from St. Petersburg and is 24. Dmitry confessed to throwing the cat because she scratched him.

He stated she scratched when he picked her up. He grabbed her and then threw her, claiming she resisted his actions and didn’t like being held.

Rescuers initially tried to reach her by boat. They then used climbers to save Musya. The old cat is ten years of age and didn’t have severe injuries.

Vets checked her out thoroughly. She will recover with a volunteer now, and later they will decide where she’ll live. It could be back at the castle.

Dmitry is now under observation at a Russian medical facility. He had hitchhiked to Crimea alone, starting the trip in St. Petersburg.

Swallow’s Nest is a tourist attraction. It was built in 1911 and dates to the Tsarist era.
