Trains between Faversham and Margate are cancelled after a lorry struck a bridge at Chestfield station.

Trains can’t go between Faversham and Margate. This affects travel both ways. It all started near Whitstable, at Chestfield station.
Someone at the station saw it coming and tried to stop the lorry, but it was too late. He heard a loud crash. The lorry backed up and left quickly, but luckily, he caught the license plate.
A reporter got there, but the lorry was gone. The bridge crosses Herne Bay Road. Station workers told Network Rail about the impact, and they will check the bridge for damage.
For now, traffic isn’t affected. However, they might close the road later for a proper bridge check, as the damage seems minor at first glance.
Southeastern announced delays around 9 AM. They don’t know when trains will run again and told people on X about the crash. Trains aren’t running between those two cities.
