TfL will improve the 154 bus route. This follows reports of problems where people were stranded far from where they needed to be, and buses ended their routes too early.

The 154 goes between Morden and West Croydon and often skips stops, ending its route without warning. A study found over 2,000 trips were cut short in 2024, impacting people’s ability to get to work or appointments.

Residents of Roundshaw estate, which is in MP Bobby Dean’s area, especially disliked the bus. The bus often missed their area at rush hour, leaving people to walk home in wind and rain.

The 154 bus also ended its trips early a lot because drivers are told to cut short their trip due to traffic, hazards, or school times. One resident who uses crutches was left stranded at Waddon for hours.

The local MP started a petition about the bus, asking for urgent action. Over 600 people signed it, prompting TfL to make short-term changes to help, with a permanent fix coming later.

Now, the 154 bus route will run more often to West Croydon. The route will split at Wallington, with one bus going from Croydon to Wallington and the other from Wallington to Morden, meaning some riders will change buses at Wallington.

TfL will add more buses when they can and Go-Ahead London proposed long-term fixes. TfL will check the plan inside their company and then announce the final fix in March 2025.

MP Dean is happy about the progress, stating the bus was unreliable, and is glad TfL listened and acted. He also said to keep pushing for real change and wants a long-term fix, so he will keep pressure on TfL.
