Trio Jailed for Perverting Justice in King’s Lynn Crown Court Case
Miller sped on the A14 near Ipswich and the court learned she paid someone else to take points on her license. The speeding occurred on September 17, 2023, at Barham, while she drove a Volkswagen Touran.
The police sent a letter to Kendle, the car owner, asking who drove that day. Officers already had Miller’s phone data from another case and found messages about the speeding fine.
Kendle sent Miller a picture of the letter, and Miller said she would pay someone to take the blame because she couldn’t get points due to a past offense. Kendle said she had time to find someone and later sent photos of the car at the time, stating you couldn’t see the driver.
Miller got car insurance for a week beginning on September 13, 2023, and on October 19, 2023, she filled out a form saying Barry Pegg was driving. She was later charged in April 2024 with perverting the course of justice.
The sentencing occurred at King’s Lynn, with previous court dates at Norwich Crown Court. Miller, who lives on Lynn Road, Hillington, got eight months for perverting justice and 27 months for fraud, resulting in a total sentence of two years and eleven months.
Kendle received eight months for both offenses, and Pegg will also be in jail for eight months. PC Sharon Hackett, who investigated the case, said this crime is very serious and courts punish it harshly.
Miller tried to avoid a fine and points, which wouldn’t have stopped her from driving, but now her punishment is much worse. Police depend on truthful help from people to catch criminals, and obstructing them leads to jail.
