Julie undertakes a daily walking challenge in February to raise funds for vital Brain Tumour Research, honouring a loved one.

Julie trains NHS workers on health records. She called Michael the kindest person. He loved life, she said. They often went on drives. They enjoyed his small sports car. She misses him very much. She wants his memory to live on.
Michael felt ill in his truck in 2022. He became very tired quickly. Seizures followed not long after. Doctors put him in a Glasgow hospital. An MRI showed a brain tumour. Surgery removed most of it.
The tumour was glioblastoma. This is a very fast and deadly cancer. Doctors gave him 12 to 18 months.
Julie said life changed a lot. Michael could no longer work at all. She had to work and care for him. It was emotionally hard. She had to be strong for him. He lost emotional control from the tumour. He did not want her to be sad around him. Michael had radiotherapy and chemo. This began in January 2023. Afterwards, scans checked for tumour growth. This was a scary time for them.
In January 2024, bad news arrived. The tumour grew and spread. Surgery was no longer an option. They tried PC chemo. It only had a small chance to help. Sadly it did not work for him. Michael went to hospice in May. He died on September 7, 2024. Julie and his brother were with him that day.
Julie now walks to raise money. She supports brain tumour research. She remembers their plans. She remembers good times too. Michael liked giving to charity. He wanted a longer life. Julie wants to fund research. She hopes walkers will talk with her. Then, she can share information about brain tumours.
