Christine and James Rowley discuss the Anglia TV series “Tales of the Unexpected” at a u3a Basingstoke Old Basing event.

They talked about “Tales of the Unexpected,” a TV series made by Anglia TV in the 1980s. Roald Dahl wrote the stories for the series.
Christine’s father, Terry Barker, worked at Anglia TV as a dubbing mixer. He told her many stories about episodes, some of which never even aired on TV.
Christine said her dad inspired her and got her into radio, music, and editing. She practiced reading the news.
Paul Dodge, chairman of u3a Basingstoke Old Basing, said HRB and u3a both help seniors and share a goal of supporting residents.
Christine and James are u3a members who enjoyed giving the talk to other members. Many people attended the meeting.
Someone said the talk brought back memories, recalling that their mum loved “Tales of the Unexpected” and would watch it every week.
HRB is now on DAB radio as a health and wellbeing station. Christine has a show there on Tuesdays from 3pm to 5pm, where she shares health and fitness tips.
