The Unicorn pub in Oswestry is open again! It had closed late last year, but welcomed customers back on February 7.

Admiral Taverns owns the pub. Scott Hester is the new licensee and now manages the Unicorn pub.

Dolores Quigley, who works for Admiral Taverns, spoke about the new owner. She happily welcomed Scott to the Unicorn, looks forward to his plans for it, and wishes him success. She hopes he makes it central to the community.

The pub closed in December 2024, and Admiral Taverns said it was “not currently trading as normal.” But, they kept it open for prior bookings.

Admiral Taverns believes in community pubs and focuses on helping licensees to create sustainable pub businesses. Even though it was closed, the pub stayed open for private events.

When they announced the closure, the owner was looking for new landlords. They spoke with potential pub managers.

A Facebook page called Oswestry Pub Scene celebrated the reopening. They wished the new landlord all the best.
