Verdin County Grammar School closed in 1970. Before that, it became a comprehensive school. The school started as Verdin Technical School in 1895. It had different names over time. Sir Joseph Verdin, an industrialist, provided money.

They are planning a reunion for former students and staff. This reunion is for people who attended before 1970. The Winsford Verdin Grammar School memories Group is organizing it, managed by a committee.

They want “Verdinians” to reconnect, allowing people to talk about the old days and share stories. They will display a collection of old school photos. Also, they plan to have a memory board for sharing and encourage people to bring school items.

The reunion will be on Saturday, March 29, at the Meadow Bank Social Club. The club has a bar and places to chat. Entry costs £15, which includes a buffet, with attendance limited to 150 people.

Payment must be made before March 1. You can pay directly into the committee bank account; bank details are on the Winsford Verdin Grammar School memories Group’s Facebook page.

They accept cash and checks at specific places. Find committee members at The Delamere Street Dog on February 17 and at The Salty Dog on February 24, both times from 12pm to 2pm.

Colin Pierpoint, a former student, started this. He created a Facebook group to share school memories. Many people are interested in the reunion and former students from all over the UK are coming; the oldest attendee started in 1945.
