Artisan market thrives near Wallingford, boosting local business. Organizer plans expansion after successful start.

The market is in the Great Hall and happens every month. Many stallholders participate, giving local businesses a boost.
Andreà Clare is the organizer. She retired from Thames Valley Police in April of last year. She started the market last November.
Clare wanted a place to sell her crafts, as she makes arts, crafts, and silver items. She noticed a lack of regular event spaces, so she created her own market. It supports small businesses and individuals.
The market has a nice feeling with strong local support. Clare plans to open another market in Goring, starting in April. She also hinted at a third location.
The Cholsey market occurs every month. The most recent market hosted between 25 and 35 stalls. They sell gifts, jewelry, candles, skincare, books, and clothes. Art is another popular item for sale.
Craftspeople use different materials such as glass, stone, wood, metal, wool and fabric, giving shoppers plenty of options.
Food stalls are key to any market. This market features an on-site cafe, plus artisan sweet and savory food. These include bread, pastries, cheese, honey, and chocolate.
February’s market was a bit slower, but it still had good support. New people and regulars visited, enjoying the variety of stalls. The atmosphere was lovely and sunny, bringing the hall to life.
Clare enjoys greeting the visitors. The next market is on March 29. Many returning vendors, new vendors, and friends will attend.
The market is free for everyone. Dogs are welcome, too, and the market is open 9 AM to 2 PM on the last Saturday of every month.
