Plans submitted to Sutton Council for nine new homes on Clarendon and Elgin Roads, Wallington, replacing existing garages.

If approved, they will build nine new homes there. Seven of those homes would be flats, and the other two homes will be houses. It’s a mix of housing types.
Two flats have three bedrooms each, while three flats have two bedrooms each. Two flats have one bedroom each. The houses will have three bedrooms, and each house can hold four people.
The houses will be semi-detached and four stories. The builders will use yellow brick, saying this will match the Victorian buildings nearby.
The kitchen and dining room will be downstairs, along with a cloakroom. Upstairs will have a lounge and office. Bedrooms and bathrooms will be on the higher floors.
They will provide only three parking spots, with the rest relying on off-street parking. Transport for London says the site has good public transport. Buses run near the site, close to the town center. The train station is only a four-minute walk away.
The applicant thinks its public transport access is even better. Wallington Square shops are just across the road.
Some locals like the plan, while others do not. People have very different opinions on it.
One person is worried about construction trucks, thinking the road is already busy. They also think parking is a problem, and the new plan doesn’t fix parking. Another person supports the plan, stating we need more homes in the area.
They also said it will not drastically affect people, adding that it’s “less than ten homes.” Someone else worries about their sunlight, saying the new building blocks light. Construction noise is also a concern for them.
They think it will lower their property value. Another person supports the new homes, noting good access to public transport. They also mentioned the train and bus links. They think nine new homes will help.
PD Planning says the site is good for homes. They think the plan fits the location well and will improve the area. The homes meet the needs of future residents.
The builders say it will not hurt neighbors. Parking and safety won’t worsen, they added. The plan is to build a good, green development. They ask the council to approve it.
