Harry Richardson DFC celebrated his 107th birthday with family, friends, and Canadian Air Force representatives in Prestwick.

Harry’s family attended the event, along with people from the Canadian Air Force. They celebrated with Harry, who is a truly remarkable man.
During World War Two, Harry flew bombers, serving from 1939 to 1947.
He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, recognizing his bravery and skill.
Harry first flew Wellingtons with 149 Squadron. Later, he trained bomber pilots, flying Avro Anson planes for instruction.
Harry went to India and the Far East, where he flew Liberators with 159 Squadron. After the war ended, he helped bring prisoners of war home.
Next, Harry worked in air traffic control, joining the National Air Traffic Service. He progressed through the ranks and was very successful.
Harry has belonged to the RAFA Club Ayr and Prestwick Branch for 67 years. He still enjoys their social dances a lot.
Provost Iain Campbell spoke about Harry, saying that the 107th birthday needed recognition and merited celebration. Campbell felt honored to celebrate with Harry.
He also spent time with Harry’s family. The Provost observed that the event was fantastic.
The RAFA Club hosted the special event, which was fitting for Harry’s service. He is a war hero and a valued community member.
