The Home Office released new crime data for December 2024. This is the most recent period with available data. Reported crime had fallen for three months, but this trend ended, and crime reports went over 1,000 again.

Police.uk, run by the Home Office, shared the figures. Warrington reported 1,171 crimes in December. The police log only ‘reported’ crimes, so unreported crimes are absent from the figures. Some crimes might have been reported more than once. The December figure is over November’s 843 but similar to December 2023’s 1,107 reports.

Norris Street had 11 crimes reported, while Bramhall Street had 10. Tavlin Avenue had 8, and Radnor Street, Orchard Street, and others had 7. These streets saw the most crime in December.

Shopping areas had 46 reported crimes, and parking areas had 42. Supermarkets had 34, and nightclubs reported 25 crimes. Petrol Stations had 22, and hospitals reported 16. Parks and prisons both had 9, while police stations and bus stations each had 3. Educational buildings had 2, and sports areas had 1 reported crime.

Some crime types increased this month, while others decreased from the month before. Violent and sexual offenses were most common, with 586 reports in December, compared to only 313 in November. Public disorder rose slightly to 100, up from 96 the prior month. Anti-social behavior followed public disorder, with other theft and arson also occurring.

Burglary reports increased, as did damage and arson reports, and drug offenses went up. Other crimes also rose. Weapon possession, robbery, and shoplifting reports increased too. Violent and sexual offenses saw a significant increase.

Anti-social behavior reports decreased, and bicycle theft fell. Theft from people and vehicle crime reports also fell.

Five hundred reports are still under investigation, while only 86 cases were open last month. Seventy-seven reports await court outcomes.

No prosecution occurred in 512 cases. Reasons included no suspect found, prosecution being impossible, or further action not being in the public interest. The information came from police.uk and was accurate when written.
